Opening the Mind & Heart: Growth Through Mindfulness
The Opening the Mind and Heart course is for individuals who have completed a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course or the Mindfulness & Psychotherapy course who are looking for ways to expand and deepen their practice.
People who have not taken an MBSR course, but who have a dedicated meditation practice, will find this course helpful as a means of deepening self-inquiry, empathy, compassion, and psychological freedom. If you would like to enroll but have not taken MBSR or Mindfulness & Psychotherapy, please email or call to be considered for this course.
Meditation, reflection, contemplation, and dialogue will be used as methods of enhancing presence and increasing insight. Participants will be introduced to exercises that can be used at home and incorporated into their current practice. The homework each week will reflect the skills learned during the class period. Homework will consist of approximately 45 minutes daily of journaling, contemplation, and meditation.
Methods of self-inquiry will be taught to help expand personal awareness and gain insight into patterns of thought and behavior that often give rise to fear, anxiety, anger, and confusion. Compassion and loving kindness and forgiveness will be explored as ways to open the heart/mind and strengthen your connection with others.
Course Objectives:
- Strengthen your personal mindfulness practice.
- Learn methods of self-inquiry to expand awareness.
- Explore practices of empathy, compassion, and forgiveness.
- Work with lifelong patterns of reactivity that give rise to pain, fear, anger, and confusion.
- Examine core beliefs that limit your freedom.
If you have taken our MBSR or Mindfulness & Psychotherapy course, Opening the Mind & Heart will help you deepen your self-inquiry, empathy, compassion, and psychological freedom. If you have a dedicated mindfulness practice but have not taken either of these, please contact us to be considered for this course.
