Mindfulness and Compassion During Challenging Times
This is a hard time to be a parent. Mindfulness and community can help.
AMI is committed to supporting mindfulness and compassionate action. In order to support the diverse identities and needs of our growing community and our ongoing commitment to social justice and vulnerable populations, we are creating several affinity groups under our larger community meditation groups. We hope that you will find them welcoming and safe spaces to explore mindfulness and spiritual growth.
Jessi Heneghan, LCSW, a psychotherapist, mother and mindfulness instructor will facilitate a bi-weekly Meditation Sitting Group and Discussion for parents and caregivers of dependent children. The group will have a 20-minute guided meditation, a brief talk on mindfulness and parenting and group discussion and support. Parenting has never been easy, though a global pandemic, increasing focus on the need for social justice and widespread uncertainty have challenged even the most resourced, flexible and mindful parent. We will use this space to promote grounding, support and to practice mindful presence and compassion. This community meditation group will be offered on the 1st Saturday of each month from 10:30 – 11:30am.
